Visit from Mom & Pop!

Here's my Mom and Dad...they came up for the weekend!

Our adventures included:

- Hiking in the river bottom.

- Going to Capital Ex and seeing acrobats and this amazing man paint a beautiful picture in speed mode...I think this painting took no more than 20 minutes or so. He was incredible!

- Going to "A Taste of Edmonton." About 40 of Edmonton's restaurants set up booths to showcase 2 of their best dishes. It was so delicious! My personal favourite: the Chocolate Pear.

So, I thought I would share the most random part of the weekend. After we finished eating our selections, we decided to stick around and listen to a band that was setting up to play. They played a lot of covers...popular oldies from Aretha Franklin and even newer Beyonce songs.

Anyways, soon enough my attention shifted from watching the band to watching people come to the front of the stage to dance...people were incredibly entertaining! Here were some of my observations:

1. A thin woman in her early 60's enters the scene. She sits near the dance floor. She is wearing bright red shoes, a short black skirt, a revealing red sleeveless shirt and an oversized white hat with a red bow tied around it. An older gentleman taps her on the shoulder, asks her to dance, and they remain of the dance floor for the rest of the night that we were there. Their dancing is somewhat awkward, yet somehow passionate all at the same time.

2. A man with a striking resemblance to "Colin" off "Who's Line is it Anyways" moves his way to the dance floor. His dance moves were a combination of Tae-bo/Richard Simmons/Steve Urkel all wrapped into one. It was mesmorizing.

3. A small man with dark hair stood to the side of the dance floor clapping his hands to the music, but not to the beat. He was wearing a full white suit with a white hat and a pink shirt. He is thrilled to be listening to this music.

I almost succeeded in dragging my mom on the dance floor to join these crazies, but she used the excuse of not having proper footwear...hmm...sure Mom. :) Next year you will see me boldly enter this dance scene...maybe. :)
